Dr. Saul Villeda is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Anatomy at UCSF. His work investigates the aging processes, how that makes us susceptible to various pathological states, and how this can be mitigated. By understanding the molecular and cellular processes by how this happens, it may be possible to rejuvenate the brain and prevent age-related cognitive dysfunction. As a first-generation immigrant to the US, Saul has a unique perspective on navigating the academic environment.
